Recreation

While you are here at Mountain Lake Lodge, The Mountain Lake Conservancy trail system is at your doorstep! Featuring twenty miles of multi-use trail for hiking, mountain biking, snowshoeing, cross-country skiing and wildlife viewing. A wide variety of terrain includes gravel service roads, single-track trail, fern-lined and rhododendron corridors, rocky ridges, streamside paths and three breath-taking overlooks.
As the lake continues to fill this season, swimming, boat rentals and fishing return to Mountain Lake! Experience new obstacles in the forest canopy by day (or full moon light!) with Mountain Lake Treetop Adventures. Challenge yourself to a round of disc golf on our new, 18-hole course or get back to basics with land navigation, map and compass on the Mountain Lake orienteering course. Search for hidden geocaches with a GPS along your hike, or kick back in a hammock and enjoy the mountain breeze.
Mountain Lake is your gateway to outdoor recreation and more in Giles County and the New River Valley. Our neighbors include the Appalachian Trail, the Cascades waterfall, Jefferson National Forest, Mountain Lake Wilderness and the ancient New River. Several local river outfitters on the New are ready to set you up to catch trophy smallmouth and largemouth bass and muskie fish, or float a scenic stretch by tube, canoe, kayak or raft. Play a round of golf at the Castle Rock Golf Club, or shoot skeet or trap with off-mountain outfitters.
The outdoor playground is endless at Mountain Lake Lodge—
